'ID/U# mismatch' conundrum - HELP! - 01/02/2004
Hi all,

Hope you can help out here.
I've been running a Zappa-webring at webring.org without problems - until now. Without having changed anything to the banner-code for my site (which is a member of that ring), all of a sudden I start getting the "ID/U# mismatch" message where the banner should be. When I click that link
http://E.webring.com/h?miss_ssnb&wrid=shark_yellow&unum=10050199&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww%2Ekilluglyradio%2Ecom%2F
I get a message saying I should replace the "unum" with another number WHICH IS EXACTLY THE SAME!
I'm stumped here, since copy/pasting the bannercode into my page does nada, zip.
Thanks for any help...

This is usually a system failure.

WebRing.com even acknowledges this.

At http://r.webring.com/forum?forum=ringhelp&hub&show=perm, Andrea has written:

FAQ: ID/U# Mismatch Message Displays Instead of Functional NavBar - system
reply This message is more often erroneous than legitimate and is usually the result of a server error.

In addition, the servers are having some significant problems right now (e.g., site checking is not working).

Based on your description I would suspect a system failure and wait for resolution. If it lasts more than 48 hours, let us know again.

48 hours? It's been like this for weeks. And ringmembers are starting to complain. So if i can't resolve this within webring.org, I'll be moving my ring over pretty soon. Please help me out here. Thanks...

1. Why are ring MEMBERS complaining? How is this behavior on your site affecting your ring members?

2. Read and follow these steps

I would ask the same question, as within all ive done i cant see how an id/u# error for one user would affect the other members as this is a problem with your id/U# not a problem with the members id/u#'s.
