David's wake up call part 1. - 04/05/2004
"03/30 (359) Re (358): WebRing Wake-Up call - wrug
It has to do with attitude. Are they collecting to further an agenda or cause?"

To begin with, some 2 years ago, yes. Agenda, get traffic. Cause - my pocket. I collected - yes. I thought it was quite novel being handed ring after ring because the pencil portrait webring was doing so well. It wasn't really until about 12 months ago that my attitude started to change. Now, lately, I've been adopting out webrings. High traffic ones at that. One here, one there - some I gave to JacintagrateD. And I'm still on the decline. Why? Because I bit off more than I could chew - and yes, some rings were being neglected. I would like to publicly apologise for this and give my assurance that this won't happen again.

All these rings have new bars as soon as possible ... My main purpose is to run rings that benefit all members and not myself." --- oh nameless one. I made almost EXACTLY the same assertion YOU did in this same forum many months ago. I even asserted that a labourer is worthy of his wages. But now I realise that THIS labourer had too many bricks (rings) in his wheelbarrow and couldn't get them to the building project (members) as fast as he should have.

"The nameless one" still manages okay - I'm pleased to say. I started my first ring 4 years ago and started adopting when "WebRing" started releasing them. I stuck to my main plan of keeping within my themes even though my reasons for adopting them may have changed slightly.

Maybe I'm a little twisted but I love caring for them and even jump in and pretty much look after loads more for my almost better half *snigger*. I know it's possible that things may change but I don't feel that happening for some time (if ever). But, I do understand how you must have come to your decision and I appreciate your need to rehome some of yours. I hope they find homes with Ring Masters that care as much for the members, rather than ones that care more of the length of their own stacks.
