why is the navpanel unreadable? - 03/20/2007
Why is the navpanel unreadable? I adjusted the navpanel to have a basic gray panel, I find that WebRing has thought fit to adjust the basic to colourless, leaving the background the colur of the SITE BACKGROUND!

The type and the Icon disappear in every dark coloured site background... Why wouldn't background be a shade, other than "site background?"

Unless we have a change of tack, there will be a decrease of hits because "potential visitors" would not be able to read the navpanel!
"Multi webring sites" - suffering from a tendency to have Icons all the same - would not be able to tell the webring!

Transparent definitely was not a good choice. The WebRing logo looks really tacky on most backgrounds and the text is often hard to read.

I think the default really should be a set colour. I doubt that anyone thinking of joining a ring for the first time would be encouraged to place WebRing code on their site if a transparent one is their first impression of a navbar.

Maybe it's just me :)

I like transparency, I think it's very attractive. The problem is they're hard to see and unless you're looking for them they won't be noticed. The first time I noticed they'd changed, I thought they were gone completely. I couldn't find them on my own page. Transparent isn't too 'sensible', and yes, the page background does make a difference.

I have three rings on my page. Two of them connect to a single hub of a ring I am not a member of. Even though their names are correct, their hubs lead down a murky trail. I suppose I'll need to paste the code again and I don't want to. They are not new and used to work like charms. I think I'll leave them alone and see where they go next - it's kinda fun, in a devious way.
